I use the most advanced blood conservation techniques available. Patients tend to do better if they do not receive blood products. In some patients giving blood cannot be safely avoided, but my transfusion rate is less than 20%. The blood supply is very safe. Your family cannot donate designated blood for you, but I encourage them to donate at the blood bank if they are able.

I do operate on Jehovah's Witnesses using the same blood conservation techniques with some minor modifications. My practices are fully compliant with JW beliefs which I am happy to respect.
